The APRT Deficiency  Research Group at Landspitali–The National University Hospital of Iceland is a world leader in studies on APRT deficiency, a rare hereditary disorder of adenine metabolism resulting in crystal-induced chronic kidney disease and kidney stone formation. Our research group is a member of the Rare Kidney Stone Consortium Consortium, an international assembly of scientists focusing on rare causes of kidney stone disease and crystal-induced kidney injury.

Our Principal Investigators: Viðar Eðvarðsson, Professor of Pediatrics, and Runólfur Pálsson, Professor of Medicine, University of Iceland.
