EDDA-MD study / Role of Epigenetics in Disease Determined through Analysis of Machinery Disruption

Text

Björnsson laboratory is focused on understanding the role of epigenetics in human disease. In an effort to do so, we systematically modify cells and mouse models with CRISPR-Cas9 and explore impact on disease phenotypes such as neurological function and growth. We have made major strides developing therapeutic strategies for Kabuki syndrome and have described a novel disorder (Pilarowski-Bjornsson syndrome).

Björnsson laboratory is affiliated with the University of Iceland, BioMedical Center in Iceland, Landspítali University Hospital and McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University.

Our Principal Investigator: Hans Tómas Björnsson MD PhD, professor of translational medicine and pediatrics at the University of Iceland
