Nordic Home Birth study

The Nordic Home Birth Study is a collaboration on home birth research in four Nordic countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The goal of the research collaboration is to gain deeper knowledge of the health of mothers and their babies after a planned home birth. Research questions include:

  • Is there a difference in birth outcomes in home and hospital births in Nordic countries?
  • What is the transfer rate from home to hospital in planned home births?
  • What are the birth experiences of mothers and fathers having home births in Nordic countries?
