Preeclampsia

Preeclampsia
Preeclampsia is a life-threatening disease affecting both the mother and the fetus. Lower first trimester levels of maternal serum placental protein 13 (PP13) and its encoding mRNA are associated with the development of both early- and late-onset severe pre-eclampsia. This project is focusing on understanding the function of PP13, how it is able to prepare and precondition the vascularity around the uterus for the rapid growth of the fetus in the latter half of pregnancy and evaluate if the protein can be used as a biological treatment to prevent preeclampsia from developing.
